Business Controller – BearingPoint Capital

With a global presence and a commitment to delivering exceptional value to clients, we are seeking a Business Controller to join our nordic team.
As the Business Controller, you will play a critical role in the financial management and strategic planning processes of our firm. This position involves providing financial analysis, oversight, and strategic guidance to support decision-making processes and ensure successful transactions. The Business Controller collaborates closely with senior management, financial analysts, and other stakeholders to optimize financial performance and support the firm's growth objectives.
You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals, collaborate with key stakeholders, and leverage BearingPoint's global network to shape and execute our strategic vision in the transaction advisory and M&A space. Bearing Point Capital M&A is an international organization with employees spread across in the different regions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Business across the regions and the firm-wide Finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze reports that the accounting system generates and other data to identify trends, issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and use this data to evaluate the company's financial performance.
- Report analyses of business processes and findings on major financial issues that may impact the organization’s performance to senior management.
- Provide insightful analysis of financial data to support the management's decision-making processes to implement adjustments to achieve business objectives.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop, monitor, and update budgets and financial forecasts related to M&A activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, long-term financial plans, and investment strategies.
Accounting:
- Oversee the activities of the accounting department and provide leadership in accounting, tax, and auditing.
- Supervise account reconciliation, manage commercial accounts, and oversee the month-end closing of accounts.
- Post journals, prepare draft tax computations, manage / engage directly with auditors, do account reconciliations and month-end with transactional support from the Shared Service Centre.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and corporate policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with income tax procedures and process tax returns.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a liaison between the finance department and other business units, providing financial insights and support as needed.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including investors, board members, and external partners, to convey financial performance and strategic initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate smooth transaction processes and successful integrations.
Experience & Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 5 years post qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CPA or local equivalent)
- Candidates must have practical knowledge of reporting and financial systems.
- Experience in the Investment Banking/Transactions Services industry.
- Experience in IB/TS is a plus, not a must have.
- Candidate must have knowledge of working cross border in Europe.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of financial analysis and financial modeling.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, financial modeling software, ERP systems, IFRS (and other reporting/accounting standards).
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
